[Abstract]
Myanmar’s post-2021 coup landscape is defined by severe territorial fragmentation and intense contestation between state and non-state actors. This talk explores the resulting localized governing practices and social orders that have surfaced across the country. Drawing on 105 interviews conducted nationwide between 2021 and 2025, the presentation analyzes how varying degrees of territorial control by combatant groups directly dictate the nature and quality of local administration.
