インドネシアの現代文学を代表する二人の作家、ラティ・クマラ氏とエカ・クルニアワン氏を招き、邦訳が刊行された二作品(『時はクローブの甘い香りとともに』[原題:Gadis Kretek]彩流社(近刊)、『美は傷』[原題:Cantik itu Luka]春秋社)の物語の歴史的背景や着想の経緯、作品に込めた思いなどをお話しいただきます。また、現在取り組んでいる作品、そして急速に変容する現代インドネシア社会についても語っていただきます。

About the Event
We are pleased to welcome Ratih Kumala and Eka Kurniawan, two leading contemporary Indonesian writers, with a particular focus on their works “Gadis Kretek” and “Cantik itu Luka”, both of which have been translated and published in Japanese. The authors will talk about the historical contexts behind the stories, the inspiration for their works, and the thoughts and ideas they sought to convey through their writing. They will also discuss the works they are currently working on, as well as Indonesian society today, which is undergoing rapid transformation.
