12月6日（日）13時より、国際シンポジウム”Maritime Communities in Practices of skill, Knowledge, and Rituals: Some Cases from Sulawesi, Indonesia”（技術・知識・儀礼の実践から、海の共同体を考える-インドネシア・スラウェシ島周辺における事例を中心として-）をオンライン開催いたします。本シンポジウムは、上智大学大学院グローバル・スタディーズ研究科2020年度大学院生・若手研究者イニシアティブによるシンポジウム・ワークショップシリーズとして、同研究科のサポートを受け開催されます。
本シンポジウムでは、シンガポールのナンヤン工科大学からお招きするファリッシュ・ヌール氏による基調講演に加え、インドネシアのスラウェシを調査地とする院生の研究発表を行います。さらにコメンテーターには、国立民族学博物館から飯田卓教授、広島大学から関恒樹教授をお招きし、日常的実践から見出せる海の共同体のあり方を考えます。

【Abstract】
Research on maritime regions in Southeast Asia has found a vast waterways network of migrants and trade existing since long before the colonial times and anchored by regional coastal communities. How
are these communities maintained and their cultures practised? This Symposium, drawing on new data, will reconsider the maritime network’s human dynamics from the perspective of local communities.
The keynote lecture by Dr. Farish A. Noor will reveal how coastal communities and culture dynamics intertwined with the history in Southeast Asia’s maritime world. Research presentations will discuss three kinds of practices: technology, knowledge, and rituals. Each presenter will focus on a representative ethnic group’s (Bugis, Makassar, and Bajo/Sama) part of a maritime network around Sulawesi Island, Indonesia. The proposed Symposium will consider and discuss maritime community dynamics.
