本セミナーでは、選挙や政変などにより政治の行方が注目されている、インドネシア、タイ、ミャンマーという東南アジアの３ヵ国の例を取り上げ、各国における「法の支配」の実像に迫ります。それぞれの国をフィールドとする３人の専門家を迎え、理念形のみでは語れない「法の支配」の現状と課題を、各国の政治・社会という具体的な文脈の中で掘り下げ、現場の視点から再考していきます。

Seminar: Rule of Law in Southeast Asia -What it means and how it works in Indonesia, Thailand, and Myanmar – JICA Ogata Research Institute

This seminar will focus on three Southeast Asian countries, namely Indonesia, Thailand and Myanmar, which have been attracting much political attention in recent years, to explore the realities of the rule of law in the region. Three experts will discuss the current situation and challenges of the rule of law on the ground, contextualizing the concept and reflecting on the socio-political dynamics in each country and in the region.

How is the rule of law perceived in these countries?

What are the challenges facing the rule of law in each country?

What is its relationship to politics?
