同会議は、マレーシア社会科学会（PSSM）主催で隔年でマレーシアで開催
される国際会議で、マレーシア研究の主要な研究者がマレーシア全国は
もとより世界中から集まります。
マレーシアの著名な研究者との出会いや、マレーシア研究についての
最新の動向を知り、欧米そのほかの国のマレーシア研究者と議論ができる
貴重な機会でもあります。毎回、ベテランの研究者から若手の院生まで、
自由な雰囲気で活発な議論が繰り広げられています。
パネルでの申し込みももちろんのこと、個人の研究論文報告でもテーマに
あった形で組み合わせてセッションを組むなど、若手も含めて、参加しや
すい形になっています。
前回は、COVID-19のために初の「Zoomによるオンライン開催」となりま
したが、今回は、MARAテクノロジー大学のシャーアラム（クアラルンプル
近郊）のキャンパスでの対面とZoomでのオンラインとの併用の
ハイブリット開催です。
COVID-19の状況にもよりますが、お好きな形でご参加いただければと思います。
（会議参加費は、対面参加とオンライン参加で少し差をつけているようです。）
日本の研究者に対して、ぜひ一人でも多くの方に積極的に参加して
いただきたい、とのPSSM会長からのメッセージもいただいています。

Greetings from the MSC13 Organizing Committee!
Kindly be informed that the 13th International Malaysian Studies Conference
(MSC13) will be held on August 15-16, 2023 (Tue-Wed) at Universiti
Teknologi MARA (UiTM). The conference theme is Beyond the Crossroads:
Malaysia Navigating Global Uncertainties.
SCOPE & SUB-THEMES
1.Theorising social transformation and envisioning a new national narrative
in the context of global uncertainties
2.Sustainable development in Malaysia and the SDGs: People, prosperity,
peace, planet and partnership
3.Federalism and federal-state relations: Revisiting the formation of
Malaysia
4.Malaysian development and policies towards 2030: Education, national
integration and social inequalities
5.Identities: Class, ethnicity, culture, religion and gender
6.Contestations, youth, media, and popular culture
7.Globalization and populism: Institutional reforms and the public sector
8.Revisiting literature, language and history
9.Malaysia, ASEAN community and new regionalism/RCEPT

MSC13 will be in hybrid format:
・Onsite at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM)
・Online via Zoom
It is organised by the Malaysian Social Science Association as the
principal convenor, together with the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
